I like reading Dan Abnett and I like this series -- so sue me

Just finished Metamorphosis. It is a very sad story. Turns out, it is not so much about being a bug, but rather about working to be caring, generous and loving only for your efforts to be misunderstood/disregarded/forgotten and for those around you to see you as a burden.

Obviously it's well written and technically very good, yadda yadda. It's just very sad. Should not have been a bedtime read

Do you ever get the sense Ken Follett sets books in the past so he can have an excuse to write vile, cruel and misogynistic things? I get that sense. Because I have eyes.

(293 pages in out of 1237. What a dispiriting percentage 😂)

Fwiw there are also "xlvii" pages of introductory matter (whatever that means)
