Well, we started listening to the audiobook on a trip to Chicago. We were not overwhelmed. Then we found out the audio was abridged! I got the ebook from hoopla, and there is certainly more life to it. The characters are now approaching 3 dimensional. “Crispy leaves” come up again and again as a detail of the setting. And it’s set in Miami, so not sure it makes sense at all, much less when used repeatedly.
