Why do men talk of civil war? Civil war? What does this mean? Is there any foreign war? Every war between men is a war between brothers. War is modified only by its aim. There is no foreign war, nor civil war. There is only unjust or just war. (and unjust war is simply called crime.)

This “please excuse another lengthy rabbit trail” is hilarious

I was really looking forward to seeing what Fantine saw in Félix Tholomyès. Did not like that person from the first description by the author to his last goodbye 🤢

After Jean Valjean ran away with the stolen silver, and then was saved by the bishop from the police in a grand, thoughtful gesture of grace, to say Valjean’s internal wrestle was mighty would be putting it lightly. His habits, his intellect, his confusion.
