Overhyped. I agree with most of the major points made in the book but the book does not provide any real proof for those points. There is a lot bad rhetoric (straw man, red herring, appeals to authority, etc). The facts gathered are very interesting and clearly "support" the hypothesis, but not well enough to leave lots of room for doubt (even where I agree). The agenda becomes painfully obvious near the end.

Over hyped. It's an essay paper that was stretched into something book length by the use of white space, chapter notes, acknowledgements, end notes, references, an index, and lots of anecdotal evidence.

There are lots of interesting bits and facts but a lot of the evidence used, in my opinion, does not back up the thesis all that well.
