The Legend of Don Munio Sancho de Hinojosa: 2* A Christian knigth captures some Moors who just got married, treated them well and celebrated with them for 15 days before escorting them to the border. Later on, the Moor kills him on the battefield and brings him back to his home on a bier. Nothing interesting here, but not offensive either.

Wolfert Webber, or Golden Dreams: 1* This story goes no where. Will Amy marry her beau? Is Webber ruined after spending a year trying to find a treasure in his fields? Who is the sea-faring tyrant? WHO CARES!

The Devil and Tom Walker: 2* Tom Walker meets the devil, can't come to a deal regarding the buried treasure of Captain Kidd. His wife goes, taking all the silver, she disappears/fought the devil and lost. Tom strikes a deal with the devil to become a usurer in Boston. He dies in his old age, everything turns to ashes and bones.

Kidd the Pirate: serves as the introduction to the next story. Not rating it until I finish the other part.

The Story of the Young Italian: 1* Waaaay too long for what it was. The yound man from the previous story was estranged from his family when he met Bianca. They fell in love. His brother dies, his father wants him back, he goes. Bianca was told he died and married the friend who was the middle man for their letters. The young man killed his friend and ran from the law.

The Adventure of the Mysterious Stranger: 2* Again, a story told by one narrator to the group. Introduced the next story, nothing much here.

The Adventure of the German Student: 2*
A German student dreams about a beautiful girl, then meets her near the guillotine. They "marry"/sleep together. When he returns, she is dead. The police says she was guillotined the previous day. Necrophilia...

The Adventure of My Aunt: 3* Another man recounts what happened to his widowed aunt. A man hid behind the portrait of her dead husband, intending to rob her. She had all the men in the household with her to confront him. He was sent away (deportation?) and she married. The end hints at a 3rd story, but it's not in this collection, for some reason?!

The Student of Salamanca: 2* Antonio is a student, he follows an old alchemist, falls in love with his daughter Inez. Don Ambrosio wants Inez. They plan to flee to Valencia, but Antonio is captured by (known at the end) men sent by his rich father, the alchemist is handed to the inquisition and set to burn, Inez is trapped by Ambrosio. She escapes on the day of the execution, everything is revealed, happy ever after

I'm being very stubborn and pushing myself to keep reading this story, but I'm not enjoying it at all and there are still 30 pages to go!
