WHY in the WORLD is there a monument in Lookout Mountain, Tennessee commemorating the state of New York’s efforts in the War Between the States?

The Battles for Chattanooga diorama and film show at Point Park (it home since 1997) were previously at the Confederama in St. Elmo for almost 40 years. For many years after World War II, schoolchildren and visitors alike flocked to view the Chattanooga campaign in miniature.
(Honestly, we weren’t happy with the narration of the show, but the diorama was a beat feature, if dated looking.)

“In the city of Chattanooga… When the Federal army took over their city… Harriett Whiteside was given only a short time to leave her property, even after having sworn her allegiance to the United States. She was subsequently removed from Chattanooga and imprisoned in the North.”
(The Union army wanted her stately home.)

Now that's a very good question! I'll never understand why they did that...
