This reads almost clinical. Less about characters and more of an exploration of what would happen if all the adults disappeared and we had to restart as 12 year olds and younger.

There is some modest character development, but this is clearly a work of concept and idea, which Cixin thrives in. I could see how someone might not be into this, but I'm loving it.
