I just finished this, and originally I was told it was a Scottish fantasy. I read the authors note, and found out that it's a historical fiction which she put years of research into. I was waiting for war and crazy stuff to start happening, hence my comment. I completely rescind my comment. It all fits perfectly into what it was meant to be. I did not mean to disrespect it's history.
