There was a bizarre moment where he describes killing a girl—blood and bone and brain matter splattered across the wall—only for it to be an “it was all a dream” scenario. Very weird to drop in a memoir. That aside, it’s getting closer to the pop culture properties which made him famous and is getting more interesting as a result. I listened to a lot while working today, which I’ve curiously never done.

Weirdly, most of the ‘Breaking Bad’ stories so far are about times he was annoyed with or at odds with the writers/producers. I did like the talk about his philosophy of auditioning, though: of focusing on the process rather than the outcome. I’ve received similar advice in my own talk therapy sessions, though about relationship maintenance rather than screen acting.

This is a little longer than I usually am comfortable with, as audiobooks go, at 9 hours. But I had a 2-hour drive home from
Olympia so I knew I could knock out a good chunk of it in one day. Also, I was surprised it was available to check out at all, so I felt I had to get it. So far… meh. I think memoirs are just not my thing. I find hearing about the childhood of a celebrity so boring and so goddamn cliché.
