so i actually hate the writing style. blatty just doesn't follow the conventions needed to make a sentence; there are so many in which the subject is absent. for example, "smelled an odour like cooking." Why is there no subject in this sentence!!!! you're just throwing concepts of experiences at me and calling it description. it actually makes all of the writing so disconnected
