Yay the reappearance of Eric Swan! And the Framley people. I do like them very much because of my boundless affection for the original Framley Parsonage.

A Bleak House reference!

Good thing I’m getting up in my Dickens! I’m stubbing my toe on all kinds of references in my recent readings, twice in Jutland Cottage. One reference to Our Mutual Friend and another just now to Great Expectations.

“And in this spring he also reached his highest ambition and had an article in the Church Times on St. Paul’s qualifications for the Royal Navy if he had lived today…” (94).

This is quite delightful so far. Canon Fewling is turning out to be a great lead character. I vaguely remember him from Northbridge Rectory. That was my least favorite book in the series so far but I’d be more interested in a re-read of it now.
