Grippen, by far, is the funniest and most well-written character of the book, and his dynamics with 'Jimmy' is the best.

Lionel calling dibs on James while Simon's apparently taking Lydia is the peak friends-while-enemies dynamic, and I'm so here for it 🤣

I have such respect for Lydia: when the moment had came, she abandoned her house, her family, her country - and, most importantly, her research - and went to France to be a Voluntary Air Detachment nurse at the front lines.

Why do you make me sad?! You were supposed to be my run away and hide away escapist novel!
