When i'm preparing to attend many family gatherings over the next week, naturally i find it time to start this book. Already I'm hooked and am able to provide a different perspective on how i view gatherings and what i even consider to be a gathering! Very excited to dive more into this book.

When thinking about the art of gathering, I never ask myself who NOT to invite but this chapter outlined perfectly why that is so important. Once you have your purpose for a gathering, focus on who to invite and who not to invite as well as the physical space/layout. So interesting so far!!

Chapter 1 is all about "Purpose". I loved that the first example they dove into was the Red Hook Community Justice Center. Really grabs your attention but then they outline how having and running a gathering with a clear purpose to improve their community. By questioning current processes and leading with a clear purpose, all other details fall into place.
