“Take what you want,” he murmured against my throat as I rode him. “Make me yours.”
“This is why being with you scares me, Simon. My body aches for yours. My lips yearn to taste you. My hands long to touch your soft skin. You calm the anger inside my veins.”
I stared at his long dark lashes and how they cast shadows on the tops of his cheeks. I traced the curve of his strong jaw and then touched his full bottom lip. He was devastating in his beauty, an ancient warrior who’d seen civilizations rise and fall. The son of a fallen angel who only wanted to prove—to himself and others—that he was different than the cruel male who’d fathered him. He was protective and kind. He made me feel warm and safe. Cherished.
I smiled against my will. Was this what love was supposed to feel like? Scary, confusing, exhilarating, and warm all at once?
“Water is made up of countless memories,” Galen said. “It travels from place to place, absorbing knowledge and emotions. Your father was right when he said the sea listens. And then it keeps your secrets safe.”
“When I’m with you, I can breathe so much easier. My soul feels lighter. I say I can let you go, that I can keep you at a distance, but the truth is, I crave you like I’ve never craved anyone else. And the thought of you leaving pains me. It’s why, deep down, I know I’m fucked.”
Your presence calms the beast inside my veins.

1. Alastair is my favorite (EVEN THOUGH HIS COVER IS THE WORST) and apparently I have to wait till the final book to read his story, so can I jump to it or it has to be in order? I already spoiled it for myself by reading the blurb😭💔 I’m interested in Daman’s story as well.
2. The way Galen is presented as wrath is very silly and I disliked this guy from like page three, when he ‘tried to hold his composure and not murder his annoying brother for daring to cook for him’ 🙄 chill bro! Sure, wrath is strong vengeful anger but it’s ridiculous that he’s made out to be angry for no reason 24/7. It would have been more interesting if he’s faced with a few situations where everyone is angry about something but he unleashes his wrath and punishment; like when Simon was attacked in the beginning would have been a great opportunity to introduce it. because otherwise, he reads as a bratty emo teenager who’s angry all the time but his family indulges him!
3. There was too much info dump in the beginning that I had to go back and make a cheat list of everyone’s names and which sin they represent, I was going to add what they look like but I didn’t really care. THERE WAS INFO DUMP DURING THE SEX SCENE! ABOUT THE OTHER CHARACTERS! WHY! Again, you could have introduced the characters gradually and let me guess what sin they are from their interactions! As a reader I don’t have to know everything from page two, keep me intrigued so I come back. Since they are seven (including mc) you could have focused on two of the side characters (the one from the next book and Alastair the bff?) with a better strategy than info dumping and gave small clues for the rest. Simon’s interactions with the brothers were so good and would have been enough.
4. The main characters got less annoying as I kept reading, and I will continue the series. Their relationship didn’t interest me, weird flirting/tension/issues/sex/etc. they came off as teenagers at times and 2000’s YA! And things progressed light fast, day 1 insta lust and Simon forgetting about wanting a relationship not sex. day 2 one is all possessive and the other is all sad he’s not getting bent. day 3 weird one night stand but leaving a mating mark even though ‘I don’t want you’! day 4 struggling with love complications? because yes it’s a disease they don’t want but apparently already have it.
5. The plot and the side characters (brothers) was the reason I kept reading, it was great but the language was inconsistent and it got me out of the story many times. The story of Galen’s rage was freaking awesome and I liked how it was alluded to and then he had a great flashback scene before finally telling Simon everything. Simon standing up for the brothers was my favorite part! And DAMN!!! That Kyo reveal was BADASS!
“Your belief doesn’t matter,” Alastair said. “The truth is there regardless if you believe it or not. So. You can be a whiny little mortal and waste all of our time as you try to wrap your head around all of this, or you can just accept it.”
