The ideas behind Jounce came from a perfect storm of struggles about 6 years ago: pneumonia and laryngitis aren't a good mix for someone who speaks for a living, and in the midst of that I lost an older sister. The book's about what I learned about myself and how to deal with whatever life throws at you.

Be accountable to someone else in the writing process. Whether it's a big publisher with a hard deadline for the manuscript, a book coach that holds you to a new draft chapter every few days, it doesn't matter. Tell someone you are going to get 'x' done in 'y' days, and have them hold you to it.
