I JUST SAW THIS. I obviously fail at Goodreads!
I've had a kernel of an idea for this book for years -- just a tiny one -- that's just sort of been floating in my brain and heart. But it didn't have a solid story and it never found it's footing until shortly before NaNo in 2014. I decided to try to give it a whirl for NaNo that year. I had some basic ideas, but a lot of the process of writing it -- as is the process of writing everything for me, particularly during nano -- was letting the story tell itself without forcing anything. I wrote the first 50-55k of the book November of 2014, and then took a break from it. I began working on it again about halfway through January of 2015 and finished the manuscript by in March.
