Tom Witosky My writer's block always occurs when I haven't done enough reporting or research. It's that moment when I need to get back on the phone or interview someone face-to-face.
Tom Witosky Right now, it is enjoying a little time after my first book. Overall, the freedom to learn about anything I want to learn about. It was the same when I was a newspaper reporter for the Des Moines Register.

Tom Witosky I've always been inspired to report and write. It has always been something that I have had to do not just want to do.
Tom Witosky The initial idea happened on the day the Iowa Supreme Court made its unanimous ruling overturning a law limiting marriage to a man and a woman. When I read the ruling and knew Iowa had become just the third state in the U.S. to allow gay and lesbian couples to marry, it was pretty clear. I actually said to myself that this would make a great book.
