Thanks for kind words about the Chimes in the Tree. Yes, there is a book 3 in the works, and it will be the final book in the series. I started writing the new story a little over a year ago and then the idea to release "The Harry Hanukkah Story" came to light, and we decided to move on that, in addition to doing "The Witch Doctor: Carnival of Souls" issue... and so it has been pushed back, because the Chimes books are very involved and I want to get it right. Thanks for your patience, I promise I will do my best to make it a real thriller when it's finally released.
P.S. Also, a lot of people who read my books might not know that I have a real passion for drumming and all things drums. So I try to get 2 hours of playing in almost everyday, Great exercise and great for the mind as well.

I have done a lot of writing this summer, so reading anything other than proof reading my own work, is not what going to happen. When I have any free time it is spent playing drums or jogging / hiking.

My latest novel, "The Chimes In The Tree" was inspired by my mother's love of climbing trees. Which was passed down to me, by the way. Janet Hall, also has a love of books as a librarian and was the oldest of several siblings. That was the basis of Chimes. I then threw in some influence from J.K. Rowling and C.S. Lewis and you have Katie Windsor.
Katie Windsor, is a girl who loves playing in the forest with her beloved cat, Green Eyes. One day her cat runs straight towards the great oak that they often climb in, and instead of ascending into its branches, he seems to enter into the bark itself. Katie hears her cat's cries. Reaching her hand out towards the oak, suddenly she enters inside too. And thus the journey begins.

It varies. Carnival Of Souls was about my childhood and my attempt to deal with the REAL world, going from a small town in Virginia to Hollywood. Being a poor kid from a divorced family, and an unusual and dysfunctional upbringing... it was my dream to run away with the circus! We had a carnival in my small town every summer. It was the circus coming to town, with all of its magic on display just for me. (I wanted to live there forever!)

Funhouse Of Horrors, was inspired by my brief time working with Gene Simmons. I wrote the story with the intention of it being Gene's House of Horrors, but it was not to be. Nonetheless what emerged was a story about a kid who finds a haunted house a week before Halloween. Young Jake Stone is given a book titled "House of Horrors" by the wretched dwelling's caretaker. He reads the book and the ghosts from the pages materialize. They haunt him for years and he hates them for it. The only peace he gets is when he writes their stories down. So he becomes a hearse driving, ghost writer, who tells their stories for profit. Might as well make a buck, after all. (I had an old abandoned funeral home next door to me growing up that we would sneak into. It had caskets and all! That might explain a lot.)
Like Carnival Of Souls... Dandy, is a story about escaping into a magical world. I was a huge KISS fan as a child. I had a poster on my wall of the band. My brother and I had a closet with bunk beds, as a bedroom at one point and time. Directly facing my pillow was this poster that had KISS amongst all of this magical glitter. I thought it was actual magic dust, I guess. I wanted to climb into it. "If You Can Dream It, You Can Be It!"
Atomic Dreams, is a story about Robert J. Oppenheimer. My friend and world renowned composer Jonathan Elias, created a brilliant series of albums titled "Prayer Cycle", in which the theme was the creation of the first Atomic Bomb. One day in the studio, hearing Jonathan mix a track, I asked, "What if we made a graphic novel about this story?" And Jonathan being the coolest guy on the planet said, "Let's do it." I threw some Charles Dickens type twist to a factual tale and that was that!

I just finished "The Knife Thrower" the 7th comic book in the Carnival Of Souls Series. It is the story of Dragon, a troublemaking young boy who becomes a masked warrior to save his family. Things go horribly wrong, of course. And when all seems but lost, Jexter The Clown is there with a ticket in hand, a ticket to the carnival!
I'm also writing a new song titled "Hold on to Hope" for the Dandy Series. And starting in the new year, I've scheduled out a large block of time to finish writing the 2nd book in the "Chimes In The Tree" Series.
I love what I do. And I'm very grateful for the privilege of being able to do it.

A phrase that is dominate in the Dandy Series is... "If You Can Dream It, You Can Be It!" I wrote that phrase in Homage to Walt Disney, and a phrase that has been attributed to him "If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It!"... Mr. Disney was and is my hero. He dreamed of a place that you could leave the harshness of the REAL world behind and enter into a place of dreams. In truth, that's what we all do as writers, if we are successful. Yet, this wonderful man actually created that world - bricks and stone. (Castle included.)

It's a love / hate relationship. It is the same as being a musician. When I was growing up, I'd spend 8 hours a day playing drums in the barn. You have to be willing to spend many hours in solitude to reap the rewards. (Being a social creature, that has never been my favorite part of the process.) But the rewards can define you in many aspects.
The greatest part of being a writer, again parallels being a musician, it's just a different landscape. Best thing about being a writer for me - It is the creation of something that wasn't there before the journey began. And what the work means to you after it is created. It's your baby. You want to protect it, love it and see it grow.

I always have a list of projects waiting for my attention. So if I I am not feeling inspiration to write a certain story, then I go to another project whether it's music, business, or home related (like sprucing up my plants). There are no boring days, just boring minds.
