In an alternate universe, J. K. Rowling writes a best-selling series about a boy wizard who morphs into Bigfoot every night. She names him Hairy Potter.

Great question, since I've already published a novel about a mystery in my life! I wrote First Girl Last based on my own experience working at the White House in Washington, DC, answering the POTUS's mail. One letter had a cryptic message from someone claiming to be a secret relative made pregnant by ETs. Couldn't resist this weird plot. Would love for you to read it & tell me what you think. Reality or delusion?

Since I love the romantic tension, due to a misunderstanding or character flaw, between sparring characters, I'd definitely choose Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice as my favorite fictional couple.

FIRST GIRL LAST is a humorous YA novel based on my first real job, in the White House Correspondence Section, answering the President's mail. I plucked details from my experience, including some of the outrageous letters and a party I attended on the White House lawn, and made my 16-year-old protagonist relive it all.

The best thing about being a writer is the ability to work by and for myself, doing something that requires imagination and creativity. I've always disliked 9 - 5 office jobs, cubicles, distracting environments, and people interruptions. I'm a lone wolf at heart.

I know it's been said ad nauseam, but Read, Read, Read. And read what you're passionate about, not simply what's popular and trendy at the time. By doing this, you'll soon learn how to distinguish great writers from mediocre ones.
