I write from an outline so, fortunately it does not happen too often. I may get tied up on a word or phrase but rarely am I unable to write. But when it does happen, I will skip to the end or middle of my outline and start there and work my way back.

I have practiced law for over 40 years and my characters are based on clients or persons in my field. Likewise, the story lines are either real or come out of the news.

It may seem odd but I jog every morning. And my twenty minutes allows me to zone out. I forget about everything which is not a good thing because if an electric car was about to hit me, I would never know. But while jogging, my mind goes to my writing and I think of characters, plots, themes and more. I then race into my house, put my thoughts on paper, jump into the shower and then head for my computer.
