It's based roughly on the town of Louisa, right on the Eastern Kentucky/West Virginia border. Much of the geography referenced in the book is spot-on, I just airbrushed some of the names! Best, JTS

Hmmm, good question...and not sure I have one. I do know one "love story" that I really like -- or I should say I like the dramatic tension in it -- and that's the one between Deckard and Rachel in "Blade Runner." There's also some great Vangelis music that accompanies it.

Thanks for the question, and the answer is simple. Work! I've been a federal agent for over twenty years, and nearly half of them have been spent on the border (I've gone away and come back a couple of times). The great thing is I've come to truly love the area, and I hope some of that comes through in The Far Empty and the upcoming books. JTS
