Daniel Roland Banks I was abandoned as a child. I didn't know who my parents were for more than forty years. It was a mystery I eventually solved.
Daniel Roland Banks Dashiell Hammett's "Thin Man" characters, Nick and Nora Charles. This couple embody the witty comedy of manners, poking fun at high society and each other. This type of humor is the mainstay of much of British comedy. The book was adapted into a hit movie that remains one of my favorites.
Daniel Roland Banks The best part about being a writer is the never ending learning curve. Every day I learn a new way to express thoughts and feelings, to build worlds and characters, and become more effective in the process.
Daniel Roland Banks Write-anything. I may just start some non-sense yarn about singing carpet lint, reckless chickens or rainbow colored bowling pins. It doesn't matter what it is, the writing is the thing. Writing about anything at all frees up my imagination and kick starts the process.
For me the more difficult thing is trying to make a story I'm done with, become just a couple of thousand words longer. Paring down and cleaning up is easier than building up.
Daniel Roland Banks Life experience and a certain consideration of scenarios and attitudes escalating in our world caused me to ask-what if? That brings to mind story lines. This has become the third book in the Angels & Imperfections series.
Daniel Roland Banks I find daily events and past experiences to be my best inspiration to write. I want to share my world view and try to bring something to a reader that they can value beyond just the stories themselves.
Daniel Roland Banks I've started a dystopian novel. It's a story about people adapting to life in the aftermath of a disaster that sends the continent into darkness.
Daniel Roland Banks Write and read. We must strive to improve our writing through practice and continuing education. Make mistakes-correct them. Write some more.
