I went through a phase of doing a lot of driving for work, and survived many long dull journeys by listening to the news on the radio. It was during the period where the phone hacking scandal was breaking and the media was effectively reporting on itself. Over a period of months a story began to form in my mind, so much so that by the time I set down to write Exposé I knew exactly what would happen from start to finish. I even knew the final line of the book.

Most of the story and characters for Exposé came to me while I was driving and listening to the news on the radio. I enjoy driving and find it a good environment to come up with ideas. I'm not sure why.

I'm working on my second novel, which has some links to the first.

Make sure you can find the time to write on a regular basis. For me, getting into a really positive routine at home with the rest of the family made an enormous difference and so the whole writing process was extremely enjoyable.
