Writer's block is often a result of trying to meet an outcome with our creative work. Outcomes are not our business. We need to stay within ourselves, writing from an inner experience and desire. Once we try to meet the expectations of others, our energy arcs outward and becomes mental rather than creative. Soon it exhausts itself. So I remind myself of this and write from a very personal place.

I think writers live more fully just by the nature of our desire to experience life and to find the language to express ourselves in ways to which others can then resonate.

Trust yourself. Go with whatever offers you energy: subjects, ideas, characters, settings, stories. Don't let those mental judges into the process too soon, they stop us in our tracks and pull us outside ourselves into what we believe others may think about our work. Stay within. It's where all the fun is.

I wanted to understand creative energy, how it worked, where ideas came from, was there a muse like many writers claimed, or did each of us have more control over creative output than some thought. It seemed like a big mystery to everyone and I began to suspect it could be solved. So I read, began giving my attention to the natural world (the macrocosm of creative energy), and to my inner life (the microcosm of creative energy) and took notes.
