What books are on your summer reading list this year?

Kelly Simmons My summer goal is to read more non-fiction. I'm looking forward to David Sedaris' DEATH BY FINDING, coming the end of May. And Dani Shapiro's marriage memoir, HOURGLASS is on my list. But I accept suggestions, too!

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Kelly Simmons Interestingly, I am working on an outline for a book that revolves around a mystery from my own life, involving a peeping Tom and a mysterious photo of me as a child that showed up in a dead man's desk. *spooky*

Who is your favorite fictional couple, and why?

Kelly Simmons I don't think there is a more compelling and interesting portrait of coupledom than Sue Miller's THE SENATOR'S WIFE. But for sheer love and longing -- I vote for the pair of lovers in THE TIME TRAVELLER'S WIFE. Damn, there's that word 'wife' in the title again . . .

You've woven some pretty tough (and real) topics into your stories - namely Alzheimers and Panic Disorder/anxiety, and done a really good job capturing their depths. How much of this comes from firsthand experience and how much from research? Can we expect to see more of these "dark places" in your next book?

Kelly Simmons *she grins her evil grin before answering* -- Some of it is firsthand knowledge (sadly) and some is research. My next book, ONE MORE DAY (Feb. 2016) is a combination of the darkest material yet -- child abduction -- and the lightest, most hopeful -- reincarnation and religious belief.
