Honestly, I don't know that I have any good real-life mysteries. I have found plenty of inspiration for horror in my life. Time in a warzone, watching people online date, being exposed to people in their raw state in general. I feel like you can stretch anything into horror. But I don't know that I have any good "whodunnit?" instances in my own life. Now, if I started lifting from a few people near me, I might have some better options...

The expression. It feels like there is a constant swarm of emotion and experience and words inside me. The only way to survive it somewhat sane is to vent it. I vent it through writing. Writing allows me to create entirely new worlds and also map out the world inside my head.

I force myself to keep writing. I worked for many years as a technical writing, writing about subjects I did not care about or that were mind-numbing. If I could power through a software user guide, I can crank out anything. Even if the writing is sub par, if I press long enough, I usually find my rhythm and break the block. The hardest part for me is getting the right idea to get started or covering the boring connective tissue between plot points. Many times, I'll type in [INSERT] and skip whole parts to keep the momentum going. Then I return to the [INSERT] instances when I'm more inspired.

My most recent book (still in process) is very closely modeled after the dating lives of several of my female friends. I would listen to their online dating horror stories and think, that would just make me want to kill somebody!

I knew I wanted to be an author in the fourth grade. My teacher had us do an entire writing unit, which included self-publishing our own books. I knew right then. It just felt right. I can't really stop the flow of words in my brain. The only way to deal is to write them out.

I am currently working on my third book, a full length novel tentatively entitled The Rest Will Come. This work deviates from my first two and takes a side step into more the horror comedy genre as it winds around the horrors of divorce and online dating and creative ways to cope with them.
