I come from a family of serious readers. Growing up in a small town and spending a lot of time reading paranormal book series like Dark Shadows and a variety of historical romances and gothic novels. It gave me a broad perspective of book styles and formats. Also, I've always had an active imagination since I was a child. My mom said she could send me to my bedroom as a punishment and I would lay on my bed and daydream.

It doesn't happen very often but when it does, I take a break. I watch a movie or a tv show, listen to some music or an audiobook or sometimes do a little housework. It doesn't take long to become inspired again. I believe while I rest, my mind is formulating a strategy to make my writer's block to go away.

Don't be afraid to get your work out there. Have a few beta readers read your book and get their feedback. Act on their suggestions as you feel is necessary and edit it thoroughly and edit again if needed. Find a professional editor. That is a must.
