Scott Washburn It's the third book in a series, so the idea flowed from the first two. The idea for the first one came from both the H.G. Wells story, "War of the Worlds" and the table-top miniatures game based upon the story.
Scott Washburn Inspiration just comes when it comes. I have no explanation for it.
Scott Washburn I'm currently working on Book 3 of my Great Martian War series. I'm a little over halfway through the manuscript. I hope to have it to my publisher this summer and see it released in the fall.
Scott Washburn Aspiring writers should enjoy what they are doing. If it ever becomes drudgery or a source of frustration, you should step back and rethink what you are doing. But be prepared for frustration. Getting published is a very difficult thing these days. But don't go it alone. Get involved with writers groups. Share your work with others and get feedback. Make contacts. You never know who may be able to help you out in the future.
Scott Washburn The best thing about being a writer is the creation of something new. I can't claim to be a great writer, but even so, when I write a story I've created something new, something which did not exist before, and which but for me never would have existed. And When I'm able to share my creation with others and know that they've enjoyed it and that in some small way I've touched their lives, well, that's a very special thing.
Scott Washburn Writer's block is not something I often have to deal with. The ideas seem to flow pretty easily. Sometimes I'll get stuck over some particular scene (usually describing a location) but after a few days of letting my subconscious work on it, I usually have no trouble moving forward again.
