Danielle Younge-Ullman Beatrice and Benedick from Much Ado About Nothing. Best sparring. Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. Best and most hilariously terrible confession of love.
(Obviously my favs are of the less sappy variety!)
Danielle Younge-Ullman The very best thing about being a writer is the readers. Readers rock, and book people are, in my experience, the best, most empathetic, most curious, intelligent, passionate and interesting people.

But this is a multi-level answer for me, so I have more to say...

I'm a voracious reader, and have been since I was a kid hiding under my covers with flashlight and a book, way past my bedtime. I love books, love reading, and have always been in awe of writers. So, on that level the best thing for me about being a writer is just that...I am amazed and so grateful to be one! To find that I have the ability to do the thing I most love and admire, is amazing.

On yet another level, the best thing about being a writer is the ability to take my own observations, experiences, struggles, et cetera, and make them into something that can reach another human being--to entertain them, make them laugh, cry, think...and ideally, to lift them up a bit, help them feel less alone, and deepen their understanding of themselves, the world, themselves in the world.

Finally, I'll bet everyone says this--day-to-day the best thing about being a writer is the ability to work from home in very comfortable clothing! (Not pyjamas, I swear, unless I'm sick.)
