When I reach a point where I’m not certain how to proceed with a story, I often go back and edit previously written scenes. That sometimes helps stimulate my imagination. I also list a series of questions regarding how to proceed with a story. I then try to answer the questions through the point of view of the story’s principal characters. That process allows me to “weed out” false plot lines and typically helps me get back on track with the story.
