Janis Thomas For the manuscript I juts finished, the idea came from a lifelong friend of mine. She and her mom had a kind of sixth sense, and I wanted to explore that idea in depth.
Janis Thomas Coffee! Or wine! Or a good song playing on the radio. Mostly, I get inspired when I sit down and read what I wrote the previous day and feel that it's going somewhere and I want to get there!

Janis Thomas My advice for aspiring writers it to keep writing. You'll get better with every word, sentence, page you write. This can be a tough business, but if you really want to be successful, you have to be persistent and patient.
Janis Thomas I get to work in my pajamas! And also be home for my children...
Janis Thomas I don't really believe in writer's block. ;) I believe there are days when I'm not going to write a lot, or what I write will be terrible and need to be seriously revised. But when the words aren't coming, I try to buckle down and power through. If I sit at the computer for long enough, the words will eventually come.
