Charles Ghigna My most recent book is STRANGE, UNUSUAL, GROSS AND COOL ANIMALS published by Time Books for the Animal Planet. It's a 128-page coffee table type book chock full of stunning photographs of some of the world's most exotic animals, many recently discovered. The idea for that book came from the publisher. My other newest book is a picture book titled FIRST TIMES. It was inspired during a trip to the park with my granddaughter, Charlotte Rose.
Charles Ghigna My mind races with ideas. I write 'em down and see where they want to take me. If a story line emerges, I hang on for the ride. If the idea seems to stall or lack excitement or energy, I hit delete and more on to the next good idea.
Charles Ghigna I have thirteen new books under contract. Eleven of them are coming out this fall 2017. One is a big picture book and 10 are beginning readers. Also have a board book coming out spring 2018. And what I think might be the best picture book I've ever written coming out fall 2018. The main character is Mother Nature!
Charles Ghigna Buy yourself an old fashioned notebook (journal, diary). Put it under your bed. Get it out each night. Write something, anything for five to ten minutes each night. Write as though you're whispering something important to a best friend. Take out your notebook and write in it EVERY night for two weeks. Then stop. If you can. If you can't, you're a writer. Have fun following your writing dreams.
Charles Ghigna Writing as you may know is a lonely business. It's just you and the words. That is until each new book is born! Many writers refer to their new books as their new "babies." I like to think of each new book as a magic carpet because every time one of my new books is published, it takes me places I've never been before. My books have taken me all over the United States from New York to California, from Florida to Alaska, and overseas to France, England, and South America!
Charles Ghigna Thank you! I've been writing for more than 40 years now and so far I've been one of those lucky writers who has not encounter "writer's block."

Here's a little poem for you.

WRITER’S BLOCK

The path to inspiration starts
Beyond the trails we’ve known;
Each writer’s block is not a rock,
But just a stepping stone.
