I am usually fine with ideas. But sometimes if a chapter isn't going well, I do get a bit stumped, trying to get the spontaneity back into my writing. Times like that, I've learned to stop that project, work on something else, do household jobs. Space and time away from the problem usually help.

Get a full first draft completed. It is a huge step and proves to yourself you can do it. Even if the names and even plot lines change as you go, you can tidy it all up later. There's something wondrous about seeing all those thousands of words written down - it's the bones of your project complete! Don't work on a small section over and over until all the fun is gone. Get the whole thing down.
