There's another Simon Westow book that will appear next year, and Jane features prominently in that, growing and changing. So I guess yes is the answer to your first question. As to the second, given the way society was back then, I don't think she'd be able to do this work along. She and Simon both contribute things that make the whole greatyer than the sum of its parts. I love her - and she terrifies me - but I don't think she can carry a book alone.

Hi Julia,
The fourth in the series came out this summer in the UK - I'm guessing elsewhere soon, if not already. Beyond that i'm not planning more. But I didn't plan this one, either, so never say never. I'm glad you enjoy them, and thank you so much for reading.
Best,
Chris

The Tin God was inspired by a suggestion from a reader of the series who's a suffrage historian. 'Why doesn't Annabelle run for office?' Even in the 1890s, she could, thanks to a change in the laws in 1894. And so, in 1897, Annabelle runs to be elected as a Poor Law Guardian.

Write. Every day if you can. Write what you want to write, but keep writing.

I'm currently revising what will be the seventh Tom Harper novel. This summer The Dead On Leave will appear, a standalone set in Leeds in the 1930s. The end of September will see The Hanging Psalm, the first in (I hope) a new series, talking place in the 1820s and featuring Simon Westow, a Leeds thief-taker and his his enigmatic and deadly young assistant, Jane.
