Hi Mary-I chose the Westfield area because I'd recently discovered that a great-great grandfather grew up in the area. He was the nephew/foster son of a man named Elam Bliss, whose farm I describe in the chapter "A Glass House." I'd hoped to run a print of the farm but I couldn't locate a good enough scan. I've never gotten to visit, but I grew up in a similar orchardy/Great Lakes environment, on the Leelanau Peninsula of Northern Michigan. Thank you for the question! J

A year later (not sure how I missed this, but apologies): Yes, I'm writing one now, and the earlier books will be reissued by Counterpoint, hopefully next year; I'm having a little more trouble with the plot than I expected. In the meantime, I wrote The Center of Everything, which is a kind of variation on the same world. Thank you for missing Jules (and happy to say that you're not the only one).

Alfred, thank you for remember Jules! I'm working on a new Blue Deer mystery now, and Counterpoint will be reissuing the earlier mysteries beginning next year. It's nice getting back to that world.
