Sycamore Lane was inspired by my own experience moving into a home with "moving day" written on a blackboard wall in one of the bedrooms. My husband and I met the former owners of that house at a party a few months after we moved in. They denied writing "moving day" on the blackboard wall, so we were left to wonder who did it. We joked that we might have a ghost in the house, and Sycamore Lane was born out of that experience. To be safe, I painted over the blackboard wall shortly after that party.
