My latest book idea came from a picture of a tornado created by the wonderful artist Sally Blakemore. It inspired me to write my latest picture book for young children entitled: WILD WILD WEATHER.

Inspiration comes to me in all forms. I was watching the old horror movie called Creature From the Black Lagoon when I got inspired for my book, KEEPER OF THE SWAMP. My latest book idea came from a picture my artist friend created out of cut paper.

My favorite moment in being a writer is when I hold my new book in my hands for the first time. But, the best thing about being a writer is when someone comes up to me and says that they loved my book!

When I experience writer's block I have three techniques that usually work:
1) I go to a book store and look at all of the newly released books. It inspires me that so much excellent writing is being produced.
2) I visit an art museum and take in the beauty of the art.
3) I walk in the woods and enjoy nature.

No idea is a bad idea. Write it down. See what you think and then decide. If you like your idea don't be afraid to rewrite and rewrite. But don't be afraid to start. And once you start... finish!
