My most recent book was part of a series. It wasn't my intention when I started it the fist book in the series. But Isabelle (For Now And Always) led to Jack, Jack (Ask Me To) led to Selena, and Selena (Say You Love Me) led to Ellis. Ellis (Forever Love) may just lead to a fifth book. I actually finished book 1 after I had already finished book 2 and had book three almost completed. And I had already started book 4 before I was finished with book 3. Books 2-4 just flew out of me. Book 1 was the struggle, which was funny because I had the story all plotted out and was excited to write it when I began. But that story just didn't want to come, and I kept getting distracted by the other characters. So came The Heart's Way series.

Just write. That's all you can do. You have to hone your craft and get better at it. Once you have something that you can read and say "I can't believe I wrote that" then you're probably ready to get your work out there. There will always be people who don't like what you wrote. There seem to be critics everywhere. But you write first for yourself, then for the people who appreciate what you do.

I'm a solitary person by nature, so writing is truly fun. I have these stories in my head, and I want to get them down. I can lose myself in my own story as much as I can in someone else's. And these days there are so many romance stories that lack traditional values or traditional story lines, so I enjoy going back to the type of stories I enjoy and giving them my own spin.

There is a coffee mug that gives the definition of writer's block as when "my imaginary friends stop talking to me." I find that amusing and yet true. When I can't seem to get the story moving, I let it float around my mind. I let scenarios and conversations take place without writing them down. Mostly the thoughts are awful, but eventually the next step of the story will come, and I go back to the keyboard.

My current obsession is China. I've become mildly addicted to Hong Kong action films and I've also been listening to a lot of music out of Asia. This had inspired a two book series on characters who are from China. The first is an American citizen whose parents were missionaries, who is back in the US on a mission to help a friend find her long lost son. The second features a character from Hong Kong who is in the US looking for a long lost relative. Both stories have a twist of intrigue, as those are my favorite kind of romances.
