John Romanos the Shallow Graves trilogy is based on a song by my band, The Mud the Blood and the Beer. The song, which was written by my band-mate Gabe Rivera, was originally based on the art of our friend Al Gorton who drew all of our flyers and the cover to our CD, Madhouse.
John Romanos It's all about atmosphere. If the weather that day happens to match the story, or if I'm watching a movie or reading a book that has a lot of good atmosphere, it's hard not to be inspired.

John Romanos Having infinite worlds inside your head where you can escape to in an instant. It's like a free ticket to anywhere.
John Romanos It's hard for me. Sometimes I take my laptop to the library to avoid distractions at home. Also, if I need a break, I might start reading something or watching a movie that inspires me to write--a story about an author or something in the genre of what I'm writing. It's easier to get back into it if I'm inspired rather than distracted.
