Jason Hubbard The one I'm currently working on was inspired by politics and, strangely enough, the video game "Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse."
Jason Hubbard Summer's winding down, so I'll warm myself by finished "Fate's War" by T. Rae Mitchell, followed by the three-part "The Buried Goddess" by Rhett Bruno & Jaime Castle.
Jason Hubbard I could go the controversial route and choose Christian and Anastasia ... but I'll choose Superman/Clark Kent and Lois Lane instead. They're a case in which opposites attract, where's he's polite and humble and she's sassy and pushy, and they're together because of their drive to seek truth and justice. It's enough to make her overlook the fact that Supe's flying around in his long johns!
Jason Hubbard I'm mostly inspired by current events and real-life social phenomenons. I think anyone can write an adventurous fantasy book about good vs. evil, but I like to make a story that can touch a nerve while also being heartfelt.
Jason Hubbard I'm working on my most daring book yet, "The Legend of the Three Roses." My previous works have been edgy yet still kind of "safe." I'm throwing that out the window with this one, making all kinds of bloody scenes and thought-provoking drama. It won't have rape, though. Rape is icky.
Jason Hubbard There are tons of writing tips out there, such as "Keep your story focused," and "Keep your narrative fixed on one character at a time!" Some of these tips can be ignored since many successful authors have. My top recommendation is to read a lot of titles from the genre you're most interested in. You'll pick up on new words and get a feel for narrative flow. The biggest danger in this is that you might pick up a lot of cliches so it'll be hard for you to be original, but oh well ...
Jason Hubbard I'm still very small-time, so all I can say is that I love seeing my imagination unfold on paper and a computer screen. I also love seeing the excellent artwork done for my covers.
Jason Hubbard I wish I could say I take a bike into the mountains and meditate until the right story idea comes to me. But really, I just do my normal routine like going to work and play video games while thinking about the story.
