I get inspired to write by listening to the stories that people share with me. Especially those about the large and small ways they have tried to change the world. Also, large doses of punk rock and hip hop and get the creative juices flowing.

The essays is Dispatches Against Displacement are drawn from notes I've taken as an Organizer in the fight for housing rights in San Francisco. For the past twenty years, I've had a front-row seat in the Land Use wars taking me to public housing developments, anarchist housing takeovers, residential hotels and eviction blockades.
