John Findley Hello Goodreads
Why a mystery? I have enjoyed my life, letting the good times and the not so good pass me by.
I have written about that in "Recollections of My Life."
John Findley I would be pleased to look at your book, email me a copy to john_findley@bigpond.com

Regards John
John Findley Hello Jean
I am new at all this “Author” stuff, though I am keen to learn. Being a young man of seventy plus years, and running my own business for quite a few years. I have moved away from doing everything my own way, to looking at how others get the job done.
I am using twitter and Facebook to put my name out there, also have a website up and running. Never done a private launch but I am not against the idea of it.
Please let me know how you get on.
All the best
John

John Findley Hello Jack
I have just followed your link to Amazon, you and I can’t still be thought of as young men by others. But you appear to have retained a young spirit all your life, being prepared to stand for your standards. Keep up your writings, good luck.

John Findley Hello
I have joined with you under your new listings, lets hope this one will stay??
Regards Your friend John
John Findley Well that’s easy; my book is about my life. Though when I started writing short stories with the writing group that met each month, a task would be set for the following month with the title named I was to write about.

I would cheat a little and write as near to what I was supposed to by recounting a time from my own life.

So I was left with quite a few stories about my life, my wife suggested that I should put the stories together and get them published.

May I say how conceited and self-important that makes one feel?

But I can say not completely my own idea but I jumped at the suggestion.
John Findley I might hear a story that reminds me of one of my own, and I write it down. I am locked in to repeat it the way I remember it but as I keep writing my old memory kicks in and my story will expand.

As the others in my story read it and their memories recall the time, I have other versions to consider including with my writings.

The more feedback I get; the task of writing is less of a chore, in fact the enjoyment will increased and my inspiration is feed and my story enlarges.
John Findley A story about a six month holiday from the government bank I was working for, two annual holidays of four weeks each and time off for fifteen years “Long Service Leave”. My then wife and our three children took our caravan all around Australia. When I say “all around” we saw a lot went to many places, but we also missed much more we realised then and now how big Australia is.

I have a few problems I have to overcome.

First coping with my memory I have a lot of my life behind me and with us older men we have forgot much of the story we start to tell about.

I contacted the young lady who once was my wife to help with recalling my past, she helped a lot with the bits and pieces of the old me but I needed to filter out most of what she remembered.

When recording how we spent our days forty years ago, I need to stop and explain for the new young reader what a “Phone Box “ is, or some other apparatuses that was essential in our lives back then in years past.
John Findley Keep writing, live your life enjoy or perhaps put-up with the changes life brings. All your experiences in your day to day existence help you in recording your life or someone else’s life you are writing about, write about what interests you when you can.

If you need to record on paper some matter that you detest, maybe some evil school teacher sets an assignment.

Then put your best foot forward and write as near the subject set as you can, always keeping in mind what you enjoy thinking about.
John Findley Well only one book published not bad for a young man of 70, but I started late in life with a group of friends meeting once a month in my home.

The younger friends found it hard to use their own homes as all had young families, and a noisy group of story tellers in the evenings was not wanted when younger children were meant to get to sleep.

I wrote about my life, the best thing was remembering old friends and sometimes being able to get to see them again.
John Findley I may have something else going on and I will change and write about that, or go out into the garden (I would have said my garden but I am told what must be done out there, so it remains the garden.)

Thinking about what has frozen my mind sometimes helps, even getting a cup of coffee before returning to the computer and getting on with it.

Now if I was to be truthful when I return with my coffee I start playing computer solitaire.
