Usually a good nap clears the brain. I write best in the afternoons. I have errands and housework and stuff like that to do which sort of weighs on my mind. Once I get the house in order and have dinner planned....then I take a 20 minute nap, make a cup of tea and am ready to go.

No boss. Never liked them. Never will.

Write. Write bad stuff. Write good stuff. But write. And keep something with you to keep track of your ideas. I can sneeze and a good idea will be gone.

I have a children's book and two historical fiction novels all fighting for first place in my brain. But since I recently finished radiation therapy for ocular lymphoma and published my book and am busy with that - I'm going to let the ideas duke it out and see which one wins.

It comes like a flash. And I can sit down and write a chapter or a story in about an hour. But I can't go on like that. I will be a "one book wonder" if I do. When I decided to self publish my book, I wrote 1,000 words per day and was very consistent with it. And now....I need to do that again....

I was my mother's caregiver for the 10 years she had Alzheimer's. I also lost a grandmother, father, aunt and first cousin to the disease as well. I found that most of the books I read on Alzheimer's were either so depressing that I went looking for high bridges to jump off...or were so technical that they put me to sleep. My book reads like a conversation and is an easy read. That's one more thing....if you are a caregiver, you do not have time for a 400 page book. Mine is 138 pages.
