Hi Sally: The Deepest Dig is my first picture book. The jacket says it was inspired by the discovery of a woolly mammoth skeleton on a Michigan farm in 2015. Hope that clarifies!

I really liked the timid romance of Jubal Sackett and Itchakomi in Louis L'Amour's Jubal Sackett. Jubal is wise, tough, and protective, but Itchakomi is no waif. She is fierce in her own way, and fearlessly protective as well. I like them from the way the complement each other.
