Lisa Colodny I spent a lot of time as a child visiting my grandparents on weekends and holidays. I went every time I could. My days and nights were filled wit BH imaginary encounters with gunfighters, dragons, and monsters. From my grandfather’s barn we visited places we only dreamed about. My cousins and I had amazing imaginations and my grandparents encouraged us in so many ways to just go outside and play. And did we! Check out my Place Where magic Lives Series.
Lisa Colodny My friend, Kelly would say she wanted to travel to Hamilton, Nebraska in the hope of meeting Turbulence's Detective Chris Gates. Me, I'd like to visit, Place where magic lives: into the woods, magical world of Neliah.
Lisa Colodny The smell of death is prevalent in the pitch black room where I've awakened. I'm not frightened, not really; until I hear breathing beside me.
Lisa Colodny I read a story about the intermittent appearance of the blood moons several years ago and had an idea for a story centered over the 24 month period of time between the blood moons. Sanctuary Road will be out before the end of the Summer. Ideas for the Place Where Magic Lives actually are from memories of growing up with my cousins. We had amazing imaginations!
Lisa Colodny I think life is the greatest inspiration and motivator for me personally. I have a journal that I write ideas in continually. My ideas come from life, either mine of someone else's. For example, years ago when I was taking a toll road back and forth to work, I had the idea of centering a story around a lady who works in the toll booth but I just wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it. I took almost sixteen years, but eventually I had an idea. Journeys was released in June 2018.
Lisa Colodny I've got two projects going right now. One is a series for middle school readers. The series is called the Place Where Magic Lives. The first book, Into the Woods, will be out towards the end of the summer. I hope to release two books a year in that series. I'm about halfway through my latest adult fiction. I hope to have it done and in the editing process by the beginning of 2019.
Lisa Colodny Write what you like, not what you think might sell.
Lisa Colodny My grandfather used to tell the greatest stories. My earliest collections are of all the grandchildren gathered around him on the front porch listening as he talked about driving a team of horses or paving a road through the valley. HIs stores were amazing, I wish I'd written some of them down. As I got older, I found myself in exactly the same situation as my friends gathered around me to hear one of many stories about me and my cousins. I guess it's genetic. I love to tell a story, that's really what writing is.

Lisa Colodny When I find I'm "stuck" on a story, I usually try and just walk away and do something completely unrelated. When I first started writing, I might be blocked for days, weeks even. I took the whole Summer off from writing in 2016 to spend time with my Mom. When she passed away in 2017, all I did over the summer was write. Most recently, if I'm blocked, I'll spend some time playing in the doll room. My mom and I collected dolls and there's always something needing attention in that room.
