Thanks for the question! "Homicide in the House" is officially released on June 15. However, Amazon is currently selling the paperback and the e-book should be available in the next few days!

Diana,
Thanks for the question! I've worked on Capitol Hill since 2005 so I've seen a lot concerning safety and security. There's not a day that goes by that we're not reminded that we work in an area targeted by people who might want to do harm. Nonetheless, I still love driving up the Hill each day to work! My inspiration for writing the series comes from my years working for Congress, both as a staff member at the Library of Congress and as a Senate staffer. It provided me with great stories to tell!

Currently, I'm working to the sequel of "Stabbing in the Senate" which is tentatively titled "Homicide in the House." Not surprisingly, it's a murder mystery set in the House of Representatives. I'll give you a clue: there is a unique murder weapon involved with this one!

Don't give up. It took me a few years to finish my first novel. Then, I entered the publishing world, which required at least another year of my time to understand. After that, I had to find an agent and then subsequently a publisher. There will always be varied opinion about your writing and stories. The trick is to persevere and keep writing.

The best thing about writing fiction is that you can make it up! It's a great creative outlet. I've been writing about political science my entire life and nonfiction writing necessarily restricts you to analyzing the facts at hand. But fiction writing allows you to change your mind, alter a character, or create a new world. It's a very liberating experience.
