Read a lot and write as much as possible. I must have written well over a million words before I published my first story, but all of them were needed before I wrote the crap out of me and got down to something honest and fun.
Also, and working in erotica helps here, although any genre fiction might do - I followed the old William S Burroughs line of writing down the worst, most disgusting things I could think of. That was very liberating, and after that I felt I could do anything.

I self-publish erotica, so I have total freedom. I can write anything I want, in any style, and any length, and the only opinions that matter are mine and my readers.
From another angle... I like typing, always have, and I'm also something of a sex addict, on and off, and writing erotica gives me a way to type and think about sex while also being creative and making some money. I can do it high, too, so it's the perfect fit.
