I have a backlog of memoirs, novels, and poetry I plan to review, but I also want to reread Edgar Lee Master's Spoon River Anthology because a poet who wrote a blurb for my forthcoming chapbook Kin Types compared my new work with that of Masters. Right now I am reading Ballistics by Billy Collins and The Cavalier Case by Antonia Fraser.

My family origins were a mystery, in part, and my curiosity about the mystery forms the basis for the memoir I have been working on (well, off and on) for some time.

After spending time researching family history and digitizing antique family photos, I became fascinated with how to bring the interior lives of my female ancestors into poems. I am putting together a chapbook of these poems about the hidden lives of these Dutch-American women from the 19th and early 20th centuries.
