i don't really know, it just happens. I just get an itchy feeling an I'll grab a beer or a glass of wine, head out to the balcony with my laptop and start clicking away.

In a few different ways - all of them including putting the book down for as long as it takes. Sometimes I work on a different book while my brain works out the issues. Other times I just stop writing and take the dogs on a nice long walk.
