For 2023 I'm currently reading:
Trust by Hernan Diaz
The Dancing Plague by John Waller
The Shipping News by Annie Proulx (I read any and all Pulitzer Fiction Winning books)
Back Blast by Mark Greany (I don't read a lot of "action" books and I really enjoyed The Gray Man)
Brain Washing by Kathleen Taylor
Alexander the Great by Anthony Everitt (have a history of reading about military Generals so I've stuck with it)
The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt (Pulitzer Prize Winner)

For my own town, I'm very intrigued by the history of the founding families, particularly in the black neighborhoods.

Music.
Before I wanted to be a writer, I wanted to be a music therapist. I was a percussionist and composer of ensembles and short piano pieces.
The lyrics and the music inspire in greater ways than I would have expected. Endless inspiration is available when you use music as a muse.

Researching about the history of philanthropy and potentiality of time travel and the philosophy of time.
I am in development for a novel tentatively titled THE VAULT, about a billionaire that builds an impenetrable vault in his house, that holds over $350 million in valuables that IF someone tried to break it, all the contents would be destroyed.
This billionaire discovers he has leukemia and while he has raised billions for charities, and cured diseases, the only match for a bone marrow he has is with his sister. He would rather die than allowing her the pride of saving his life.
Why he hates her, what he keeps in his vault and what he does in regards to his leukemia all goes back to his relationship with his father. It's a story of love, guilt, forgiveness and hope.

Actually I had the idea about 10 years ago. It was a project I worked on in college that my professor kept asking me to make longer.
Come to today, I began work on a series set in a mental institution and I came back across this novella I wrote and I tweaked it to fit the current series.
It was a lot of work, but the two different voices I don't think I could have replicated today if I tried.
